Australian Airlines operated their first Boeing 737-476 service on March 26th, when VH-TJE ‘Kookaburra’ flew from Melbourne to Sydney on TN534.

Australian will take delivery of their second Boeing 737-476 in June, when VH-TJF ‘Brolga’ arrives in Australia. While accepting delivery of VH-TJE, Australian also firmed up two of their options held on the Boeing 737-476. When delivered, VH-TJN and VH-TJO will give Australian 11 of this model and a fleet total of 27 Boeing 737s. After leasing a number of overseas aircraft during the pilots’ dispute, Australian are themselves now leasing aircraft to an overseas carrier. Noted at Melbourne in late April was Boeing 737-376 VH-TAX carrying the titles of the UK based Inter European Airlines.
