The Future of Sydney Airport
The Future of Sydney Airport
After decades of political dithering, Sydney Airport now faces a crisis. If it is to catch up with the past progress in aviation and satisfy future growth then its future role must be decided.
One hint of what is to come is that Qantas will be tripling its fleet over the next two decades. It was also revealed at the National Debt Summit in March that Australia stood to lose up to $40 billion over the next ten years if nothing is done to remedy the existing problems at Sydney Airport. Relieving the congestion has become an economic imperative now that tourism is Australia’s major foreign exchange earner.
