• The Belgian Air Force is to retire all of its remaining Lockheed T-33As by the end of June. The new Alpha Jets will take over the training role and accomplish the task in 150 hours of jet flying training. Previously new pilots obtained their jet experience by flying 125 hours on the Magisters followed by 100 hours on the T-338 after an initial 125 hours on the Siai Marchetti SF260.

• Continental commenced services from Sydney on May 1 flying DC-10s. Four flights a week will be operated to LA via Honolulu and Fiji twice a week with the remaining outward services through Pago Pago.
