Casey Field to Move:
One of Australia’s most historic GA airfields, Casey Field at Berwick, south of Melbourne, is to be moved to a new site at Lyndhurst, about 7km west of its present position.
Casey has for years been fighting off the inevitable moment when it would be forced to close due to the encroachment of Melbourne’s southern suburbia. Environmental and fiscal pressure has been increasing to the point where the facility would either voluntarily move or be forced to close due to the proximity of housing estates in the area and the high relative value of local real estate.
