Ansett NZ Secure
The sudden departure of Ross Keenan, Ansett New Zealand’s chief executive since inception, for another job sparked off a round of speculation suggesting the company was in severe trouble. Keenan, known in the business as an accomplished shaker and mover, left to become managing director of the Newmans Group- the large tourist and coach company which spawned Newmans Airlines, later to be bought out entirely by Ansett.
Ansett Australia’s deputy manager, Mr Graeme McMahon, expressed surprise and disappointment at Keenan’s departure which came almost exactly a year after the launch of Ansett New Zealand.
