Boeing's first 747-400 rotates on its inaugural test flight, April 29. First flight of the most recent addition to the 747 family was delayed several weeks with electrical problems though Boeing do not expect this to delay initial deliveries which are due to take place later this year.

Aviation About to Be Slugged Again as Cost Recovery Limits Are Boosted:
The entire civil aviation community is now being targeted for another round of cost increases following the Federal Government’s May Economic Statement.
In a a strategy reminiscent of the top selling satirical book, Catch 22, the Federal Government has decided to eliminate the revenue apportioned to aviation cost recovery through the $20 Departure Tax and replace it with higher en route charges and GA parking fees for light aircraft.
