First Pacific Air and Space Technology Conference Held in Melbourne

The first International Pacific Air & Space Technology Conference was held in Melbourne in mid-November. The conference saw a wide range of presentations with strong NASA and NASDA (Japan) participation. While the general thrust was technical, considerable emphasis was placed upon Pacific Basin development and in particular Space programs. Of particular interest were presentations by Stanley Schaetzel, Technical Director of Hawker de Havilland and originator of the Cape York spaceport proposal.

Concern Expressed at Inaccurate Media Coverage of Cape York Spaceport

Mr Schaetzel expressed some concern with the sensationalist and not necessarily accurate coverage of the spaceport proposal. This it appears can be attributed to the scarcity of accurate formal statements covering the program.
