Message to ‘Australia’s Military Aircraft’ Newsstand Buyers

Special Notice to All Early Newsagency Purchasers of Our Book “Australia’s Military Aircraft”

Aerospace Publications Pty Ltd, publishers of Australia’s Military Aircraft, wish to advise that they have withdrawn all original copies of this book from both newsagency and direct mail sale throughout Australia.

The recall has been undertaken due to the book not being produced to the high standards originally agreed between printer and publisher. Consequently, the first edition of the book is not up to the high standards of production quality that have been a hallmark of this magazine for a decade. The primary problem with the first edition of”Australia’s Military Aircraft” was that the binding was faulty and it was thus liable to break apart after relatively minimal use. Additionally, the wrong paper was used, which consequently had a significant effect upon the overall quality of reproduction of the 427 black and white photos within the 228 page book.

As quality and service to our readership comes before everything at Australian Aviation, we consequently decided to withdraw from sale all of the original copies and have them destroyed. A second (and vastly improved) edition was printed during November and has been publicly available since late in that month.

If you, as a reader of Australian Aviation, perused the early edition of”Australia’s Military Aircraft” at the bookstall during the September/October period and rightly felt that it was lacking in print quality, or that its binding was physically damaged while on display, then may we suggest that you take another look at the reprinted version as I am sure you will be impressed with the improvement. If you find a copy that is still badly bound, I am sure you will find it is one of the original ones that somehow is still on sale. Look through the rest of your newsagent’s stock and I am sure you will find one of the new ones. If you are in doubt, the new version was printed for us by Offset Alpine Printing and their name is on the Contents page.

Secondly, and most importantly, if you purchased an early version of the book and it now has a binding problem, then simply cut out page 17 from your book and return it to us so that we can, free of charge, mail you a replacement copy. We would also appreciate your comments as to the production quality of your original version.

Needless to say, this step to totally reprint the book has led us to considerable anguish and a degree of financial loss, however, you, the customer come first and this is why we have taken this unprecedented step to totally scrap book one and replace it with what it should have been in the first place.

Thank you for your support and for bearing with us, I remain

Yours faithfully,

Jim Thorn Managing Editor
