Correction on Sph-4 Helmets Rotor Torque
Our report in the March issue Rotor Torque stating that the death of an Army Aviation Kiowa crew was as a result of their Gentex SPH-4 helmets may have been misleading. According to Army accident investigation sources the crash was officially categorised as non-survivable and the helmet design was not a contributing factor in the loss of the crew. It is true however that the RAAF and Army are considering replacing their current stock of such helmets but they refuse to confirm or deny if this is for safety reasons.
Revised Legislation for Night Flights
