It’s just after 3 pm in Auckland, or 0200 Zulu. That’s 1 pm In Sydney.
I proceed through Immigration, with Qantas’ friendly and efficient female Airport Manager assisting me to complete this formality and to get my AKUSYD boarding pass. Finally, through to briefing, which is a smaller version of the Qantas Briefing Room at the Sydney Jet Base.
A few blue-coloured Jeppesen charts adorn the walls and the furnishings are purely functional. I quietly watch as Captain Brown speaks with Captain Mcinnes, who deadheaded as a passenger this morning on Qantas 43 with us. Craig will “Skipper” QF44 back home to Sydney, with Peter taking the ‘rest’ as a passenger.
