• Mr Nixon, the Federal Minister for Transport, in an announcement on 28 May said that the government would allow scheduled services of the Concorde to commence on 1 January 1977. Three services a week will be operated by British Airways between Melbourne and London.

• Gates Learjet delivered its 600th Learjet at the beginning of May. A total of 93 aircraft were delivered in the year to April including 54 to US customers and 39 for export to 20 different countries.
