Can You Help?

Reader reaction to our Warbirds item, “Swords to Ploughshares” on p99 of the September issue, has been very strong. The mere thought of the now irreplaceable aircraft that were burnt, hacked, bulldozed and melted down during the post war era is disheartening to say the least. While many readers remember these times, few however have photographic evidence of same.

If any reader has a collection of photos, in good condition, depicting the long lines of parked aircraft at places like Wagga, Tocumwal, Benalla and Richmond, then we would be grateful to be able to copy-print them for our photo files. In this way you can contribute to the aviation heritage of Australia while maintaining ownership of your original photos. If sufficient good-quality photos of the era are available, we can then run a photo spread to bring this era back to life for those who were not part of it. Moreover, the message of the past hopefully will be heeded by those in the future so that our present generation aircraft will in time earn their rightful places in the museums and flying displays of the future.
