Air Safety and the Disappearing Exits
Nineteen eighty-five will go down in history as one of the grimmest years for air safety yet recorded. At the time of writing some 16 major airline accidents had claimed 1,542 lives.
The reasons for such a high accident rate are many and varied and some within the industry tend to feel that it is really only the statistics catching up to. their more usual average following an excellent 1984 for airline safety. However you analyse it though, the most essential point continually comes through that the effort put into enhancing airliner safety must not be. left to play second fiddle to the bottom line.
