Farmers’ hopes crushed for ultralight spraying
The potential of ultralights in agriculture has long been regarded as almost unlimited. For any property task ranging from musterings, stock inspections, waterhole checks and boundary tours, ultralights appear to provide the ultimate in cheap yet quick farm travel.
Do-it-yourself flying -with no licence needed – is becoming much more than just a hobby for hundreds of Australian farmers. But unfortunately one of the agricultural purposes to which ultralights are particularly suited -crop spraying – will not now be allowed in Australia for at least another two years.
