The Years Ahead
Trying to forecast the future is about as reliable as trying to win at cards; both can be classified as forms of gambling in one way or another. However, as we close at the halfway mark through the second last decade of this, the most turbulent of man’s centuries, it might be worthwhile examining some of the more likely effects progress through the first half of the eighties will have over the coming five years in international aviation.
Just as the first half will eventually be noted by historians for its devastating recession, the second half will hopefully record growth as most of the world pulls itself back to relative economic prosperity. As always, the engine of that recovery will be North America with the EEC a close second. Asia will assert her trading and technological prowess to good effect in perhaps surpassing Europe in many areas of manufacturing expertise.
