Ansett Pleased with 737 Performance

Now that the twelve Boeing 737 aircraft of Ansett are well and truly part of the Australian aviation scene, it was decided that we should give you, the reader, an insight into the operating procedures used with these Ansett twin jets.

The 737s, introduced in the middle of 1981, replaced a fleet of 12 McDonnell Douglas DC-9 aircraft, with registration numbers VH-CZA through CZL. These were subsequently sold to Midway Airlines in the US and the US Navy, who purchased several under a lease arrangement to replace ageing piston-engined C-118s.

The Boeing 737s continue the Charlie Zulu registrations with VH-CZM to CZX, the twelve DC-9s being replaced by twelve Boeing 737s.
