Nostalgia
Nostalgia is sometimes a bit of a yawn, but we came across some literature during our travels which made us wonder whether we were really in this world or looking on it from some far-distant point in our little Universe.
A business acquaintance of ours is a bit of a bookworm – the understatement of the century. His suburban Sydney home is propped up by books. . . .
Among his recent finds was a stack of 1945 copies of that eminent US publication FLYING. He also unearthed his grandfather’s seagoing diary which recorded how he was shipwrecked off Cape Horn, captured by Patagonian natives, forced to watch horrible tribal executions, escaped and from the bits of timber salvaged from the shipwreck fashioned a raft on which he drifted clear through the treacherous Straits of Magellan!
