The West Australian Police Department have recently introduced into service a Partenavia P.68 Observer. The aircraft will be used for traffic control, surveillance, search and rescue and general patrol duties. The Observer, with its clear nose, provides a perfect viewing platform with the ability to operate down to 70 kts while maintaining normal handling characteristics. The Partenavia range is sold and serviced in Australia by lnterair of Essendon.

New Cessna Single:
Let’s hope that things are picking up, credit is getting easier to find, rates are slowly falling and the best news from the US for GA for many months Is that Cessna has re-opened its singles line. On the new products side, Cessna will roll out a revolutionary new type early in 1983. This aircraft is designated Model 208 and is a high-wing single-engined (PT6) ten-seater built specifically for STOL operations in remote areas such as New Guinea, Africa and Alaska. The 208 is expected to be available around 1985.
Beechcraft Lightning Available in 1984:
Beechcraft have designated their new turboprop-powered single-engine aircraft the 38P Lightning. The six-place aircraft will be available with a choice of three different engines – a Pratt & Whitney PT6A-130, a PT6A-40 or a Garrett TPE331-9. Cruise speed of the pressurised aircraft is said to be between 240 kts and 275 kts depending upon engine choice while cost of the Lightning is stated at being In the half-million dollar region. The Lightning utilises the fuselage and wings of a 58P Baron and will be certificated to a maximum altitude of 25,000 ft, first deliveries are expected to be made in late 1984.
