With a new helicopter industry operator’s association close to the formation, John Spiers spoke to Terry Summers, chief helicopter instructor, Rex Helicopter School, Bankstown, NSW, on the outlook for the helicopter industry, and for the people who want to get into it.

TS: It is very tempting for us to gear up solely to how many pilots are waiting in the line to do a licence, without regard for how many jobs will be waiting for them.

Two years ago there was a great demand for any sort of guy who had any sort of helicopter licence – overseas or anything. He was off and into a job straight away.
