History Of The Australian Aircraft Industry

was the complete manufacturer of 20 sets of wings for aircraft type Avro 504K for the RAAF. During that period, de Havilland was selling to aero clubs and private owners DH60 Cirrus MK 1 and DH 60 Cirrus Mk 2 wooden Moths, a number of which had covered surfaces (wings, ailerons, rudders, tailplanes etc. ) made in Australia using imported metal fittings.

De Havilland Aircraft transferred to new hangar premises at Mascot Airport at the end of 1930. Between that period and the rumblings that preceded World War II, in addition to normal servicing, overhaul and repair of various de Havilland aircraft in this country, the Company was the major aircraft manufacturer and assembler in Australia.
