The Nomad Searchmaster
The Search Master version of Nomad will be something of a familiar sight in Australia and “adjacent countries” later this year, for the first fully equipped Search Master will be demonstrated throughout South East Asia and the South Pacific.
This tour follows a long series of personal sales talks with all the likely customers, from India eastward to the South American coastline. The Government Aircraft Factories’ sales team, headed by. Mr Eric Morris, has been flat out to sell the Search Master for many months now.
In Port Moresby the Defence Force authorities seem to have whittled the possibilities for their offshore surveillance requirement down to the special version of the Dutch Fokker/VFW F-27 Friendship prop-jet airliner (the Maritime) and the Search Master. This is largely due to the fact that Air Niugini has a fleet of F-27s and the Defence Force has some Nomads, so the expertise of the airline’s engineering staff can be applied to either of these aircraft types.
