In full: Virgin Australia’s new domestic network

written by Adam Thorn | June 11, 2020

Virgin Australia announced on Thursday it’s set to double its current capacity in July.

The airline will add 30,000 seats across 320 flights and will include interstate services to Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

To provide flexibility, the business is waiving change fees on domestic bookings for travel between 15 March and 30 September 2020 and for international bookings for travel between 15 March 2020 and 30 June 2020.

The introduction of new services will be staggered but from 6 July the following network will apply:

Hi I have a flight credit for Broome to Perth, Perth to Broome. I’m wanting to book a flight from Broome to Perth on Friday the 17th of July using the credit. Is this possible?

Have you considered contacting the airline? Just-…throwing it out there.

You’ve won the award for the most sensible comment on AA during this.

Sydney to Adelaide and vv seems to be a strange omission. I thought that this would have been a standard.

In making this announcement, I hope that Virgin have the forward bookings, or at least inquiries, as flying empty or half empty planes will only worsen their financial problem.

Not if the fares are price to accommodate low load factors.

I thought they were broke. I thought they needed a Govt handout. I thought the sale process is not over. I thought the staff were laid off. Where is the investment coming from to open up these routes?

    • Antony

      says:

      Precisely!

Previous Virgin ticket holders’ can’t get refunds on COVID-19 cancelled flights.
Why would anybody buy a ticket from an airline whilst it’s in Voluntary Administration?
An air ticket is not ‘cheap’ if it’s potentially worthless.

I think that a majority of people will book their flights with Qantas/Jetstar while there is so much uncertainty around Virgin. Any idea that people will flock to Virgin I feel is misconceived.

Qantas Qantas Qantas – Craigy – THIS article is about Virgin and it’s success and deserves support, not Qantas, there are plenty of other articles to peddle your Qantas alliance, pick from sunrise and the like.
There is a whole industry out there not just Qantas.

Seems like Paul Scurrah knew about the border restrictions being lifted ahead of everyone else?

When is Tasman bubble start anyone know

  • Darren

So no flights out of Maroochydore?

    • Jonathan

      says:

They only want to fly routes’ they deem will make them money, ie main trunk routings.

They’ve never supported ‘outback’ ones, either.

These American ‘bidders’ don’t know about interior Australia, so don’t care.

  • Peter

    says:

Still zero flights to Tasmania even with borders open from July 20….
Well Qantas will get all my money, see ya Virgin.
