Watch moment Singapore Airlines A380 lands at Alice Springs

written by Adam Thorn | May 7, 2020

This is the moment YouTuber Warren Scale caught on camera the first of four Singapore Airlines A380s landing at Alice Springs.

The aircraft joins six MAX 8s and 13 other narrow-body aircraft currently stored in the NT desert.

The larger SIA group has grounded 138 out of 147 aircraft around the world, including 19 A380s. The majority of the airline’s fleet is lying low at Singapore’s Changi Airport, including planes from its low-cost subsidiaries SilkAir and Scoot units.

Asia Pacific Aircraft Storage, which oversees the Alice Springs site, has welcomed aircraft for nearly a decade.

Director Tom Vincent told the ABC, “It’s quite a process to put the aircraft into storage, (but) once the storage induction check is complete, we’ll then start carrying out the periodic checks every week.

“We’re here to keep the aircraft in a nearly flight-ready condition, and then return them back to service.”

If it was the first of four, why are there two already on the ground in the background ?

I wonder how many A380s will ever leave in one piece

Hmmm. The video you provided describes it showing the “first” SQ A380 arriving at Alice Springs. Surely you viewed it too? There are clearly two SQ A380s on the ground already.
Further the article specifically mentions “six Max8s and thirteen other narrow bodied aircraft”. Did the wide bodied B777 aircraft present not rate a mention?
It might seem petty to mention however Australian Aviation is where industry representatives and avgeeks alike turn to for accurate aviation reporting.
The recurrence of repeated small errors leads one to doubt regarding the overall accuracy of reporting contained. I’m an avid fan of AA and find these errors a little disappointing as do other keen aviation enthusiasts.

It wasn’t the first as you can clearly see another SIA A380 in the background as this A380 touches down.

Geez, aviation must thank that douche bag from the UK that predicted MILLIONS od deaths and spooked the world into a massive knee jerk… only to break the isolation to screw a married woman… all good for the elite, but those in aviation have lost their jobs and probably never to regain another one!

Just as “Video killed The Radio Star”, it can be surmised that “ETOPS killed The Jumbo Jet.” Sad but largely True.

Two of the least relevant posts I’ve ever seen in a forum! What have either of those got to do with the SQ 380 going to Alice?
