Qantas makes aggressive price drop for Sydney-LA route

written by Adam Thorn | March 3, 2020

Qantas is offering return flights from Sydney to Los Angeles for $859 and Sydney to San Francisco for $869.

The deal, part of the carrier’s Fly Away flash sale, requires customers to book economy before 9 March, and comes as the aviation industry is facing increasing economic pressure.

The 15-hour flight is the second-longest out of Australia, behind Perth-London,

The price drop to LAX is for trips booked for:

  • 4–26 March;
  • 23 April – 16 June;
  • 10 July – 8 September; or
  • 30 September – 27 November.

Last week Air New Zealand offered similar aggressive price drops to stimulate demand, with trans-Tasman flights reduced to just $66.

    Second longest flight after Perth-London!! I think maybe third or fourth after Sydney-Dallas and Melbourne LA and even Melbourne-San Francisco.
