AA Podcast: Father’s Day Series EP3 – Clarence and Colin Schofield

written by Anna Grbas | September 23, 2019

Colin (left) and his son Clarence (right)

Coming to the final instalment of our Father’s Day Podcast, we have a very special father and son duo on the show.

We often have the pleasure of interviewing pilots or students on the podcast. This time, we delve into what it’s like to work on the ground and in the tower.

Both serving incredibly important roles towards the everyday operations of our industry, Clarence Schofield, and his father Colin, share a mutual love for aviation and an Aussie ‘can-do’ spirit.

Now retired, Colin shares his stories on what it was like working for Qantas as a Tug Driver, as he led aircraft to and from terminals and maintenance areas.

It comes to no surprise that Colin’s role sparked an interest at an early age for his son. Clarence now works as a Tower Controller in Brisbane, and he shares his fondest memories of spotting aircraft and seeing firsthand what it took to keep the industry moving.

Looking back on our amazing guests we’ve interviewed for this podcast series, fathers undoubtedly have a powerful influence on their growing children. Without them, and our aviator mums, the future of tomorrow wouldn’t shine as bright.

Thank you Dads, we love you.
