Befitting its planned use on flights to Honolulu, the first Airbus A380 for Japan’s All Nippon Airways (ANA) has rolled out of the paintshop featuring a Hawaiian green sea turtle livery.

ANA has three A380s on order, all of which will be used on the Tokyo Narita-Honolulu route, and all of which will sport a different sea turtle livery.

Airbus says it took 21 days to paint the aircraft at its Hamburg, Germany facilities, using 16 different shade of colour. The first A380 features a mostly blue sea turtle livery, while the second aircraft will be green and the third, orange.

This first A380 will now undergo cabin fit-out before being handed over to ANA in the first quarter of 2019.

“The aircraft will now have completion of its cabin and enter a final phase of ground and flight tests in Hamburg, during which all cabin systems will be thoroughly tested, including air flow and air conditioning, lighting, galleys, lavatories, seats and in-flight entertainment,” Airbus said.

“In parallel, Airbus will also undertake advanced aircraft performance tests before it flies back to Toulouse for preparation of its delivery and ferry flight.”

By the end of November, Airbus had delivered 232 A380s with the aircraft in service with 14 operators.
