Fly Corporate has expanded its regular public transport (RPT) operations with the start of nonstop flights between Brisbane and Tamworth.

The inaugural service kicked off on Monday, with flight FC662 operated by 19-seat Metro 23 turboprop VH-VEU taking off from Tamworth airport at about 0630, arriving in Brisbane a little over an hour later.

The schedule for the new route features an early morning departure from Tamworth and an afternoon flight from Brisbane on weekdays. There are also additional flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Canberra-based charter operator Corporate Air, which has been in operation since 1972, moved into the RPT market in April, establishing Fly Corporate and launching Brisbane-Coffs Harbour as its inaugural route.

Since then, the airline has added flights from Brisbane to Moree, Narrabri, Tamworth and Armidale.

Is there enough demand for these guys and Jetgo to fly BRISBANE to Tamworth ???

If both Jetgo and Fly Corporate survive on this route I reckon Qlink will jump in and ‘takeover’. With the TMW QF Club, frequent flyer points and a need to ferry Dash 8s there it will be a given. In the meantime I’d prefer to be on the jet rather than the flying cigar that is the metro.

Are Jetgo now flying a triangulated morning flight to TMW via DBO? Maybe they should consider a BNE-TMW-DBO-MEL flight.

Yes Red Barron why would you fly a Metro when you could fly on a jet ?

Are the Metro fares cheaper on average maybe ?

I used to fly Brisbane / Tamworth in a Cessna 404 decades ago, and that was quite alright for the relatively short flight. Seriously, don’t bash the metro for a short sector – they are a bit noisy and not a heap of leg-room but they are quick, comfortable enough and for a one hour flight do the job fine.
