Qantas started its expanded schedule out of Tasmania this week, with two QantasLink Boeing 717s now based at Hobart to facilitate an expanded flight schedule.
Having the two aircraft based at Hobart has allowed QantasLink to offer early morning departures from the Tasmanian capital to both Sydney and Melbourne.

The new schedule, which was first announced in September 2015, involves Qantas operating 13 return flights a week on the Sydney-Hobart route and 33 return services between Melbourne and Hobart.
The increase from 35 to 46 return flights a week into and out of the Tasmanian capital added an extra 2,420 seats to Hobart each week, the airline said.
In September, Qantas said 10 pilot and 15 cabin crew positions would be added to its Hobart base to support the extra flying.

The two-class Boeing 717s have 12 business and 98 economy seats, while the single-class configuration has 125 economy seats. The aircraft are operated by Cobham Aviation Services, which supplies the flightcrew and cabin crew, on behalf of QantasLink.
what about servicing Adelaide properly both domestically and internationly

Yeah, it would be nice to see a proper air service to Adelaide, would make holidaying much easier (I live in Adelaide BTW).

If Virgin Australia was to increase it’s capacity you would then have Qantas responding with two planes for every additional VA plane. Now Qantas are doing it anyway.

Why do do Qantas ignore Adelaide, I am a frequent flyer but to avoid Sydney and Melbourne I use a foreign airlines for all international destinations.

Oh Adelaide – you were only ever a fuel stop for the Perth flights when there were bad head winds.
Next you’ll start behaving like Canberra, putting a sign up saying “Canberra International Airport” and then wondering why 6 years go by without any international flights…….

I am from SA but do remember the days when almost every Sydney to Perth service with some exceptions used to stop in Adelaide with what was then TAA,Later Australian and now Qantas.The A300,A330,older 747’s and 767’s all but made the ADL stops redundant.It was a token 737 and before that 727 that did such runs in the past.
