Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has taken a RAAF C-17 to visit Australian Defence Force and civilian personnel working in Iraq and Afghanistan. Turnbull visited Iraq on January 16, and Afghanistan on the following day. Australia is increasing its military commitment to the NATO-led mission Resolute Support by about 20 personnel, bringing the total commitment to approximately 270.
Christopher
says:Well done Malcolm, arriving via C-17.
Very cost effective & he can experience first hand, how the majority of our troops arrived.
B. Harrison
says:We should have bought a bakers dozen of these impressive aircraft. 8 is simply not enough as the RAAF has discovered.
Jason
says:B. Harrison – who says the “the RAAF has discovered” that “8 is simply not enough”?
Gary
says:Jason – previous CAF has always mentioned that one can never have enough airlift. This also goes for most Air Forces. What needs to be realised is the shear versatility of this aircraft, we are still coming to terms with what this platform can achieve for the RAAF wider ADF and Australia,
Jason
says:Gary – I understand that. It’s just that ‘B Harrison’ suggested something a little more specific.

says:Great move. Now find time to land on one of our ships in the middle east
