The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) has thrown its support behind White Ribbon Night with a spectacular flypast of a C-17 Globemaster.
A pair of 4.3m tall white ribbons were applied to the fuselage of the 36 Squadron C-17 that flew over the Gold Coast and Brisbane on Friday.

The C-17 took off from RAAF Base Amerley at 1000 on Friday and headed north along the coast to Brisbane and the Gold Coast via Byron Bay and Tweed Heads, according to a post on the the RAAF Facebook page.
After reaching Stradbroke Island, the C-17 headed west and flew about 1,000ft above the Gabba in Brisbane at about 1130.

The aircraft, which was accompanied by a PC-9 trainer acting as a photochase, then followed the Brisbane River towards Toowong before returning to Amberley.

yes, wonderful to see support of a very worthy cause
my most memorable flypast was back in the 70’s, when I was in Army Aviation and stationed at Cooktown, with AAAvn in support of survey ops
a big exercise was planned, with lots of army and air force involvement – and the night before a big army departure (including lots of armour) the RAAF guys had an encounter of the unpleasant kind with some army guys in the main street of Cooktown
picture this – a huge array of army vehicles, all lined up on the road alongside Cooktown airport, and we all look up to see a RAAF Caribou flying very slowly, at only about a couple of hundred feet, straight down the road
and written across the flat base of the Caribou in VERY big capital letters (probably white tape of some sort) were the words ARMY SUX I laughed so hard I nearly P’d myself
ah the memories – military aviation in the 70″s was so much Fun….

says:Isn’t it 36 Squadron rather than No 36 Squadron? Whatever, great to see support for this cause.
