Qantas will add an extra flight to Hawaii from December 20, when it will fly four times a week from Sydney to Honolulu, up from three currently.

Qantas executive manager of global sales and offshore operations Stephen Thompson said Honolulu was one of the airline’s most popular destinations and demand continued to grow.

“Increasing capacity to Honolulu delivers on our strategy to be more flexible and respond to market conditions,” Thompson said in a statement on Friday. “We will continue to adjust our schedules to take advantage of seasonal revenue opportunities.”

Qantas said previously Airbus A330s (initially A330-300s and then A330-200s) will replace the Boeing 767-300ER currently flying the route from September. The extra frequency, coupled with the aircraft change, adds 253 more seats per week on the route.

Qantas is progressively retiring its 767s as there are replaced by A330-200s being transferred across from Jetstar, which in turn is replacing its A330s with 787s.

Qantas said the number of Australians visiting Hawaii rose by 24.3 per cent to more than 300,000 in 2013.  Jetstar and Hawaiian Airlines also serve the Sydney-Hawaii route.

Meanwhile in other Qantas news, the airline said refurbishments to its Qantas Club in Darwin were almost complete and the facility was due to open in late September.

The lounge will seat 350 passengers and was double the size from the old Qantas Club, the airline said in a statement.

I can understand that Qantas are replacing their 767’s with A330 but why are they giving the new 787′ to Jetstar.
Qantas is going to land up with a whole bunch of decrepit aircraft .

Having been a Qantas devotee F/F for over 40 years, I need to say, after the horrendous experience, and treatment that I received last year, on a QF 380 return flight, London / Australia, it became very clear, why, the demise of the Qantas “Label” has deteriorated to the low level it has reached to date.
In complete contrast, to the excellent service I received with the Emirates B-777 flight, Australia / London.
Plus the most pleasant demeanour of the Cabin crew, a more enjoyable, and comfortable experience indeed !!.
In addition to this I would add, I flew Domestic both ways, having stated this, I would describe the Qantas A-380 flight, in the oft used category of “cattle” class, it gives me no pleasure to state.
Never, in all my years experience with Qantas, as, until recently, due to ill health a Platinum Card Holder, now a Gold Card Holder, have I experienced such, seriously bad service, I will be flying Emirates from now on.

Please stop AA being a Qantas customer complaint site. The one sided usually negative comments on Qantas are not aviation news.
