Tigerair Australia launched its Infrequent Flyer Club on April 8.

Aimed at passengers “who don’t fly as often as they would like but still want to be part of a frequent flyer scheme”, the program will provide “regular updates on great deals as well as other surprises and rewards for flying with Tigerair.”

“Most Australian travellers don’t fly often, or as often as they’d like, because it is just too expensive and therefore the merits of belonging to a frequent flyer program become pretty meaningless,” Tigerair Australia’s head of communications, Vanessa Regan said. “The Infrequent Flyer Club will allow Tigerair to keep customers up-to-date with great deals to great destinations as well as offer small surprise and delight rewards for flying with us, and fulfil our mission of putting more people in the sky.”

Tigerair describes the Infrequent Flyer Club as “essentially a customer relationship management (CRM) platform that allows Tigerair to keep Infrequent Flyers up-to-date with great deals to great destinations, and fulfill its mission of putting more people in the sky.”

It says the first 5,000 members to join the scheme will receive a free flight voucher for $100, while further promotions and rewards are planned.

Great idea about TIGER’s “Infrequent Flyer Club”
I fly Brisbane to Sydney frequently and enjoy Tiger Air’s unassuming , friendly, efficient service every time…..
Sad to see they are being treated a bit like Virgin was initially, when they broke into the market….but they are very competitive and backed by a large airline ( Singapore) so they will continue growing….
    Best of luck Tiger,very refreshing…

I am a longstanding loyal Qantas FF member and by no means a frequent flyer. However I do NOT consider my membership of that programme to be “meaningless “!!
I have enjoyed some wonderful Business Class flights with Qantas over the years, within Australia and to New Zealand and Singapore, with points amassed from flights, but more particularly from the large number and diversity of Bonus Partners. In chasing points I have always spent strategically, not unnecessarily.
