The first 787-9 has emerged from the paintshop sporting Boeing’s new revised livery that includes a prominent number on the tail to help distinguish among models within the same product family.
Boeing says the 787-9 is “on track to roll out and fly… in late summer”.

The 787-9 has a fuselage stretched by 6m and will carry 40 more passengers an additional 300nm (555km) when it enters service with launch customer Air New Zealand in the second half of 2014.
Good to see that All other airlines are receiving new aircraft and know how important it is WAKEUP qantas

Seem’s as though the thinking at Qantas HQ is to shrink and destroy Qantas international; you don’t need to be Einstein to observe the strategy of growing Jetstar – hence how they always get those brand new jets. Simply speaking it looks as though Qantas group doesn’t believe in Qantas ‘the brand’ anymore & investing in it is poor money spent. Qantas certainly needs a leader with a ‘can do attitude’ who engages his troops (staff) provides them with the hardware (aeroplane’s) and promotes the brand (public). When was the last time you saw a truly moving Qantas advertisement? Everything at Qantas has gone stale – from management to airline chef. Qantas needs to reconnect with ordinary Australian’s. How’s this for a slogan Australia My Country, My Airline, Qantas. I honestly hope things do change soon at Qantas and we start seeing new aircraft arriving such as B777, B787 or A350 in Qantas colours fighting back for market share and top honours a global scale.

Reading a couple of other “Thoughts” I tend to agree, Qantas management is doing all it can to promote Jetstar and let it take over from Qantas. All new aircraft should go to Qantas fleet. Is this the model B787-9 that Qantas management cancelled, or did they just reduce the number they are ordering ?
Either way I can’t workout QF’s CEO and team. Doom and gloom is all I see for Qantas on the horizon.

Yes I wonder everyday why jet star gets all the new equipment,pushback tugs ,new ground equipment,new planes.why is qantas still using 50 year old push back tugs,no new rolling stock,and 20year old 767,s.i think the a350 would be a better choice for qantas.
