Qantas shows off new crew uniforms

written by australianaviation.com.au | April 16, 2013

The new Qantas uniforms.

Qantas has unveiled its new uniforms to be worn by 12,600 staff from early 2014, designed by Paris-based Australian Martin Grant.

Thirty-five different garments will be produced, featuring French navy suits and white shirts, and featuring Qantas red “variations” of ruby red and fuchsia pink, recreating, Qantas says, “the idea of the Qantas triangle, across tops and dresses for women and on ties for men”.

The airline says some 400,000 garments will be made, using around 350,000 metres of fabric.

The uniforms will be worn by staff at 85 locations in 21 countries. Various colour combinations are to denote seniority levels. The uniforms were developed with input from the Qantas Uniform Panel, comprising 12 representatives of each Qantas ‘customer-facing’ department, including cabin crew and ground staff.

I used work for QF a while ago and the uniforms then were a disgrace.
But these make the older ones look great……………..YUCK.

I like it, not a big fan on the pink sleeve, but over all ok. I do like the jet black uniform for the boys and the coat, could have gone a different way with the hat?

Horrible. Should have stuck with the brown aboriginal dress. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it!

Owww, yuck! The style is classy, but a disgusting use of colour that looks like an afterthought… especially the pink and red!

I wear the uniform and I say out with the ‘decade old aboriginal print’ and focus on a brighter future now!

Yes move with the times, they look good, freshen the whole place up. Now just get the aircraft insides sorted (767’s & AB330’s) and then Qantas might start to Catch up VIrgin Australia.

I’m no fashionista but even I know you can’t mix red with pink…
Also what’s with the scarfs? A little VA inspired me thinks.

Wings should never be worn on the right side. Yes they are only Flight Attendant wings, but they have worked hard and earned ‘their’ wings and like pilots should always be on the left side close to the heart.

Did they consider khaki pants with white shirts at any stage?

Looks like an air Asia uniform, and no malice when I say “what will they look like” on a fuller figure ?

Love the new uniforms ! Very Chic ! Back to the glory days of aviation with french navy colours. Those crew really do look like the new faces of Qantas. Either of those two male flight attendants could look after me anytime !

I worked for Air NZ and just recently finished with them and the new Air NZ uniform is great but I did like the current QF uniform and now with their new uniform as someone else comments YUK!! It does make their old uniforms look really good. Not liking it it practically looks like the guys have the same uniform with a different tie and the ladies uniform looks like Virgin Australia but different colours. The Trench coats are practically the same as the Air NZ ones! The 2 things I really like are the cool hat and the shoes all being the same!

Shoes…? No shoes showing in that picture…
