The first Skywest Fokker 50 to be repainted in Virgin Australia colours has emerged from the Flying Colours Aviation hangar in Townsville.

Local photographer Dave Parer captured VH-FNA as it was being prepared for its delivery flight to Perth via Alice Springs.

Virgin Australia’s takeover of Skywest officially took effect on April 11.

That does not suit the Fokker. Should have left it in the Skywest livery.

I hope the fokkers will adventurly go and be replaced by ATR 72

You’re right it doesn’t suit, I hope a few ATR 42’s are brought in. But with low utilization I don’t think VA will buy brand new aircraft to replace them anytime soon, or at least I hope they do buy a few for RPT service and in time more to replace the charter aircraft.

  • Takeover! Hmmm . They were going under n did they care??? Hmmm

In the tradition of aircraft liveries this doesn`t rate very well. Either develop a new Virgin design for the F50 or go back to SkyWest. For marketing purposes it isn`t very memorable

    says:

Who cares what the livery looks like as long as the aircraft operates in a safe manner and the onboard service is good. Can ‘one’ really afford to be picky and choosy about the livery of an aircraft because at the end of the day having a service and arriving on time is what it’s really about.

This F50 is close to 30 years old rolled out with ANSETT IN 1987,I agree AT72 42 is the way to go

I much prefer the previous livery, my being involved in the design of the blue livery has nothing to do with it! 😉 But, the takeover is exactly that and unfortunately Skywest is no longer.

The Virgin Australia livery is rather uninspiring on the F50. Saw one landing in Geraldton the other day on the way to work. The F100 livery is only marginally better. I agree with everyone else that the Skywest livery looked much better.

Like jet star is owned by qantas but still has their own livery and name WHY couldn’t Skywest be still owned by virgin and keep it’s title and livery!! To me it looks utterly HIDEOUS, im being polite. As far as the website for skywest goes that too is an abomination, at least Skywest had amazing photos of our state as a backdrop which changed from time to time!!
