A recent pic of Omega Air 707 tanker N624RH, the first of the ex RAAF 707-338C tankers (A20-624) to re-enter service with its new owner.
N624RH arrived in Australia on Thursday and on Friday flew its first mission for the RAAF flying out of Amberley.

Yeah I was lucky enough to see her parked on the apron at Amberley, and got to see her take off. Great to see her back in the skies, and she sounds nice now with some new quieter engines fitted to her.
They have had extensive refurbishment and upgrade. Each have RH on
the end for Richmond their former base and keep the RAAF designator.
Great aircraft again.

Sure she was a great old girl but the new MRRT A330’s which will also be able to carry passengers is the way forward. I recall many a time seeing these old “Smoky and Noisy” birds flying around. Unfortunantly these 2 issue’s caused problems with the public.

This aircraft was formerly Qantas VH-EAD ‘City of Melbourne’ but during its service (delivered 68) it was renamed ‘City of Newcastle’ and eventually ‘City of Ballarat’ before joining the RAAF.

Fine looking bird. I miss that thunder at take-off and black contrails out past the runway. Yet, the re-engined type look more ominous and strong.

What I cannot understand, is why these were sold off long before the MRTTs came into service.

Last time when I saw the 707 was taking off from Melb Airport, when the aircraft at the time was with the RAAF.
Indeed she was loud and very smoky exhausts, just as loud as the 727.
