From V to Virgin Australia

V Australia Boeing 777-300ER VH-VPE arrived in Sydney this morning wearing Virgin Australia titles but otherwise retaining its V Australia livery.

The hyrbid livery is the first sign of V Australia’s adoption of the Virgin Australia name, as part of the airline’s strategy to rename all former Virgin Blue operations (bar Polynesian Blue) as Virgin Australia.

    says:

Maybe Virgin Australia could put one on the Sydney – Perth sector or maybe Brisbane – Perth sector.

  • Sam

    says:

Actually, Polynesian Blue is going to be rebranded as Virgin Australia as well.

    Love it!

To be expected. The transition makes perfect and commercial sense. John Borghetti is going to turn VA into an amazing new airline offering. One that is going to start causing aches and pains for Qantas…slowly but surely. Watch him work his magic.

Peter – Virgin Australia has the A330 for Perth – Sydney, and provides a very similar product.

I can’t wait to see all the Virgin Blue, V Australia & Pacific Blue fleets in the Virgin Australia Colours then we can see it as one airline under the Virgin Australia name.

  • Liam

    says:

Actually Sam ‘Polynesian Blue’ will not be renamed Virgin Australia.

Pretty sure poly blue was being re branded, I know it’s all to do with the samoan govt ownership but they use alot of pac blue frames on their routes. I’m not 100% but last time I spoke to John B I thought it was.

    Question.
When V Aust and Pacific Blue become Virgin Australia, will the flight code of Virgin Australia stay DJ or change overall to VA?

  • Mark

    says:

Hope they use the VA code and ditch DJ (Does anyone know if DJ was a choice or whatever IATA had on offer at the time?)

    says:

Very nice. I like this better than the standard VA white design

  • Rob

    says:

I think you will find DJ was selected as a throw back to Virgin Records.

  • Matt

    says:

They will all adopt VA as of 1st of Jan. If you book flights it has been chaged on the website post 1/1/12 as VA not DJ

  • Trent

    says:

It seems “Polynesian Blue” is not remaining Polynesian Blue or turning into Virgin Australia, but is instead Virgin Samoa.
