GippsAero has delivered its 200th GA8 Airvan, with the aircraft being delivered to sales and support dealer Hawker Pacific.

The 200th GA8 is a turbocharged aircraft with a full-fuel payload of more than 545kg. It features a quick-change configuration interior and a steel undercarriage – signature features of the aircraft designed to withstand the demands of the Australian outback.

Commenting on milestone, GippsAero CEO Terry Miles said: “The Airvan has found favour with customers in 34 countries across the globe and we hope to continue to build on this momentum and expand our customer base.”

Hawker Pacific’s senior vice president Tony Jones said: “The GA8 is the highest-production, Australian-designed and manufactured aircraft in history. We are proud to be associated with this significant milestone and congratulate Mahindra on their remarkable success. Given the growing demand and positive reception this aircraft continues to receive in the current market, it is the right time to bring this aircraft to the region, and is an extremely welcome addition to our demonstration fleet to help drive the GippsAero range to even greater heights.”

    34 countries, that’s about 6 per country!!!

Being Australian designed and built is a terrible burden, as our governments refuse to support such ventures, proved by the bypassing of the Incat solution for the R.A.N.. Maybe, the fact finding trips are not overseas. I believe that only the W.A. Police have purchased an aircraft. Surely other state police have a requirement and Army Aviation certainly would have a need for such a utility aircraft that would bring back some reasonable priced fixed wing experience.
