Boeing has begun delivery of its 747-8 Freighter to Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings as it continues deliveries of its next generation jumbo jet.
Atlas Air will wet lease the jets to British Airways World Cargo, Boeing said in a statement. Atlas has ordered nine of the planes.

Boeing is roughly two years behind schedule delivering both the cargo and passenger versions of the 747-8. The company says it hopes to begin delivery of the passenger version, the 747-8 Intercontinental, within the first quarter of 2012.
Through the end of September, Boeing had taken orders for 111 passenger and cargo versions of the 747-8.
