A new look night show spectacular featuring a high energy laser show and flare drop is set dazzle audiences ahead of Avalon’s 2011 Australian International Airshow.

Popularly known as ‘Friday Night Alight’, the airshow’s signature event will also feature expected acrobatic performances by military jets and, gliders, and the use of pyrotechnics to cap off the RAAF’s 90th anniversary celebrations. While the laser show encompasses a high energy visual to mark the milestone, the RAAF will also bring its own hardware to the night display with a flare drop, forming part of a show expected to be seen by the entire length of the audience site line.

“The flare drop and the new laser display will add even more excitement and thrills for the audience,” airshow CEO Ian Honnery said in a statement.

Boeing will once more be a major sponsor for ‘Friday Night Alight’, with the company having long had an association with Avalon’s biennial airshow. The Australian International Airshow 2011 will be held at Avalon Airport from March 4 to 6. Gates open to the general public from 2.00pm on Friday March 4, with the ‘Boeing Friday Flying Displays’ and ‘Night Alight Spectacular’ run from approximately 3.00pm to 9.00pm.
