Aeropelican announces new services for Brisbane and Newcastle

Aeropelican has announced plans to offer daily Monday to Friday return flights between Narrabri and Brisbane, as well as a connecting service between Narrabri and Newcastle on Monday and Friday.

The new flights are expected to be well received the resources sector.

“This is a vote of confidence in Narrabri’s economic future. Good air services are vital to attracting more jobs and investment for this region; it will immediately deliver benefits for our company,” Eastern Star Gas managing director David Casey said, whose company has plans for a liquefied natural gas plant at Newcastle. “Our Brisbane-based staff, who regularly visit our operations at Narrabri, currently fly via Sydney so a direct link is very welcome.”

Narrabri Mayor Robyn Faber said Aeropelican’s weekend service to Newcastle would bring a number of social and economic benefits to the region, but would also “provide direct access to John Hunter Hospital, a major community hospital for northern New South Wales.”

Aeropelican already operates twice daily Narrabri to Sydney flights.
